It's been a while since I last updated. I know I promised that I would try to update more often, but to some person I don't remember "Life is what happens when your making other plans." Good news is Life's been really good to us lately... and not so good on the same time.
My husband and I are now remodeling our house. (4 more years I think till we actually own it) We're trying to go for a Steam Punk Victorian look. It's going to take a lot of time to do and before we can even begin, we have to go through and "purge" the house of unwanted items, mostly those left over from my in-laws. It's been a long slow process but we're finally making head way. We're finding that there are some things, like with all renovation, that are quite unexpected. Like finding that we'll have to re-wire the entire house before we own it as it is all out of code. The good news, and the part I'm most excited about is that my small 8'x11' studio is going to be turned into a guest room, while I move into a 12'x10' room. It's more space and I'll be getting better storage to keep my supplies. Hopefully after I get set up I'll be able to get the supplies to start Lamp-working and Metalworking.
In the mean time I've been working with a lot of new tools, styles, and Mediums that I could work with cheaply. Most of the things I've been working on have been clay pieces with molds, and the bracelets like the ones I submitted today. I am also looking into becoming familiar with Blender so I can use 3D printing to make some more intricate items I have planed that seem to be giving me trouble with clay. I am specifically liking the "Chain-mail" type items because I can easily work on them at work. Also I promises to be very lucrative in the near future.
People at work seem to have been noticing that I've been making things at my desk. I have one person already commissioning me to make a bracelet for her daughter, and Amy is going to recommend me to her family and is already thinking of commissioning me for a piece for her sister as she is getting married soon.
With everything picking up again, I really should get to re-working my site to upload new stuff, but I kind of want to wait until I can get a proper camera and a photo set I found on Think Geek so I can start taking better Pictures. Along with my Kiln those are what I feel are really holding me back form kicking things into high gear, you know besides supplies. So here's to a hopefully more productive time to come.
